Earlier this week it was reported that the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel event is in serious jeopardy, after both John Cena and Daniel Bryan were allegedly “refusing” to work the event.

Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports originally broke the news Monday afternoon, with several other sources including Dave Meltzer later corroborating the story. It was also noted that the WWE creative team had been informed prior to Monday Night Raw that Cena was off the event.

In an update to the situation, Fox is now reporting that WWE is “frantically scouting” for a potential new home to host Crown Jewel, with both the location and date of the event apparently in question at this point.

It is still believed that Vince McMahon plans to go ahead with hosting the event in Saudi Arabia in order to honor their 10-year contract with the Saudi government, but we should know more very soon as WWE is hosting an important financial meeting later this week and will need to address the situation.

UPDATE: WWE is currently in the process of frantically scouting locations to move Crown Jewel to. This is NOT definite confirmation that it's out of Saudi Arabia, but the location and date are unquestionably in major jeopardy right now.
