Multiple reports began circulating in April claiming that the young Superstar had heat with both officials and talent backstage, with some in the locker room wanting him gone. There were rumors about his wife traveling with him at all times being a problem, not wanting to carry luggage and “pay his dues”, and even an alleged incident with Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor.

Whatever the real case may have been, Rush was soon taken off of the road and then removed entirely from WWE television, where he had primarily served as Bobby Lashley’s mouthpiece and wrestled on occasion.

In an interview with Fightful, Rush opened up about the so–called “heat” against him, and claimed he was “walking around broke in the biggest sports entertainment industry” because of low pay, the extraordinary costs of traveling that talent are still required to pay for themselves.

He also clarified that his wife was never a problem backstage, explained his side of not wanting to carry bags for the other stars, and also claimed he received no money from any of Bobby Lashley’s merchandise bearing his catchphrase.

The latest update, and it isn’t much, is from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter who is reporting that “nobody talks about him” backstage among the creative writers, and there are no plans in place at all.

He is still under contract with the company. At the end of April, there were reports from PWInsider claiming that Rush may be moved back to the NXT brand, but it’s been two months since then and nothing has materialized, and there have been no additional updates on that situation.
