When Isil occupied Mosul in June 2014, they distributed what they called the "Charter of the City" in which they offered the Islamic State as the only alternative for the Muslim world, and for Mosul that meant the “Caliphate”.  

Since then, I’ve been documenting Isil’s crimes against Mosul and its people, which were beyond imagination and will not be forgotten for generations.

For three years, Mosul was under a rule of terror. There were beheadings, whippings, heads broken with stones, bodies thrown from buildings, horrific forms of torture in the prisons, and the destruction of sites of great historical importance.
