  • In a recent interview, Tessa Blanchard spoke about her 2019 Goals, her thoughts on Chris Jericho, and Impact’s move to Pursuit. In regards to the move to Pursuit Channel, Blanchard said that Impact isn’t trying to compete with anyone and that Impact is, simply, an alternative. LINK
  • Ed Nordholm talked with Impact fans and media during Homecoming weekend. During the press conference, Nordholm was asked if Impact would have similarities to the attitude era. Nordholm said, “The limitations of a prime time broadcast program are to find the edges that are in line and maybe sometimes you get too close to the fire and get burned, and maybe we’ll be criticized for not going far enough… I don’t think we’ll see the Attitude Era.” LINK

At Homecoming, Impact announced they will simulcast episodes of Impact live on Twitch every Friday night. In return, Josh Mathews said they wanted to reach 15,000 paid subscribers by March 1st, 2019. Subscribers are paid supporters of a Twitch channel and there are three price tiers for subscribers to choose from: $4.99/month, $9.99/month, and $24.99/month. You can also link an Amazon Prime account and subscribe for free. With all that being said, you can watch Impact completely free on Twitch (you just won’t get a subscriber badge and ad-free viewing).

I applaud Impact management for recognizing that moving to Pursuit was a downgrade (whether they admit it or not) and something else needed to be done. Twitch is a popular site with millions of viewers a day, and Impact already runs monthly Twitch specials on their channel.

Unfortunately, Impact wants 15,000 paid-subscribers by March 1st, 2019. When I was watching Impact this week, the highest viewership number was 11,000. So, as you can tell, the original paid subscriber goal is clearly not possible at this time. My guess is Impact has under 5,000 subscribers on Twitch right now, and reaching close to 10,000 subscribers would be quite the accomplishment.
