Viral 'Crying' Dog From Popcorn Park Shelter Gets New Home

FORKED RIVER, NJ — After staffers from the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter posted a video of one of their long-term tenants, it was seen by more than 100,000 people.

“Crying Carlos” went viral in May, but the 8-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix was still in need of a new home.

The sweet senior dog had sparked a lot of interest, but mostly from far away. The shelter had hoped that if he wasn’t able to find a new permanent home right away, he could at least find a foster to take him out of the shelter.

Happily, Popcorn Park shared the news Tuesday that Carlos was moving in to a new foster home that very day, after nearly two years in the shelter.

The shelter thanked everyone who took the time to hear Carlos’s story.

“Taking the extra second to share a story on social media helps immensely in our mission to find wonderful homes for all of the pets in our care that find themselves homeless, through no fault of their own,” staffers wrote.

Popcorn Park encouraged everyone to keep sharing more of their shelter animals so they could enjoy the same happy ending that Carlos now gets.

“There are so many more like Carlos, that have been waiting for so long for someone to notice them, give them a second look, and take the time to come and meet them in person,” the shelter wrote. “Keep sharing, and keep caring!”
