LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As a result of her outstanding play over the past week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has selected freshman Alexandria Kilponen of Valor Christian High School in Highland Ranch, Colo., as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week.
Kilponen struck out 41 batters and allowed just three hits over 21 innings while delivering three complete-game victories for the (18-1) Eagles. She allowed three walks and one run to post a 0.33 earned-run average and two shutouts for the week.
In Valor’s biggest game of the week, she shined brightest, recording 13 strikeouts and pitching a no-hitter on Friday in a 2-0 home win over defending state champion Wheat Ridge.
Kilponen also helped herself at the plate, going 4-for-13 (.308) with two doubles, a home run and three runs batted in for the week. Both doubles and the homer, which went off the scoreboard, came in a 13-0 rout of Conifer on Thursday.
