JOLIET, IL — For the first time this year, the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office of Jim Glasgow has filed felony charges against a Joliet woman in connection with the sharing of sexual photos over social media. Samantha Brill, 23, who lives in the 100 block of Twin Oaks Drive, now has a warrant out for her arrest from the Joliet Police Department.
Brill committed the following crimes: non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images, harassment through electronic communications and disorderly conduct, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office. Will County Art Smigielski signed the warrant allowing Joliet police to capture Brill.
According to her criminal complaint, Brill is accused of committing a series of crimes last Oct. 26.
Five months ago, Brill sent messages on Instagram with the intent of offending the victim, and she also disseminated an image of the victim on Snapchat, and the victim was identifiable from the image and engaged in a sexual act, the complaint informed the judge.
The Joliet woman obtained the image under circumstances in which a reasonable person would know or understand that the image was to remain private, and the defendant knew or should have known that the victim “has not consented to the dissemination,” the complaint advised the judge.
The third and final charge for the Twin Oaks apartment dweller indicates Brill “knowingly sent messages” to the victim “in such an unreasonable manner as to alarm or disturb another,” and “to provoke a breach of the peace.”
The warrant for Brill’s arrest indicates that Joliet police don’t know if she has any tattoos, scars or other identifying marks. Also, police are not sure if she has any employment. She is white, 5-foot-2 and weighs 115 lbs, and she has blonde hair and blue eyes, her Will County warrant noted.
