Reliance Denies Report Of Mukesh Ambani Entering Race To Buy Liverpool FC

Reliance Industries Limited has denied a report in a leading English daily that Mukesh Ambani has entered the race to take over Liverpool FC, as per IANS. The report said that the Chairman and Managing Director was interested in buying the club.

The Mirror Sport ‘exclusively’ reported Liverpool were approached by the eighth-richest man on the planet. Club owners FSG were reportedly open to selling.

But on being asked to comment, RIL denied any such plans.

But Ambani has been linked to Liverpool earlier as well. In 2010 he eyed a takeover bid before Fenway Sports Group (FSG) bought the EPL club.

The report also said that Liverpool’s owners are willing to sell for 4 billion pound sterling.

In 2010, Subrata Roy of Sahara Group and Ambani planned to buy 51 percent of the club’s stake from former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Ambani right now owns IPL side Mumbai Indians and was involved in setting up the ISL.
