PITTSBURGH, PA — Hang onto your hats, folks. Secure all of your outdoor objects.
Things are about to get a little crazy in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania weather-wise. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the entire area from 4 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Sunday.
That’s obviously a prolonged period of windy weather.
Expect sustained winds of 25 mph to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and power outages may result, the weather service warns.
Additionally, winds that strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists should use extra caution.
Rain and snow are likely after 4 p.m. on Friday. The weather service has not yet indicated whether any snow accumulation will occur, but snow showers will continue into Saturday and Sunday.
Sharply colder temperatures will arrive Sunday, with an expected high of only 23. The low Sunday night is expected to be 16.
On Martin Luther King Day, expect a high temperature near 25. Temperatures on Tuesday night are expect to drop into the single digits; the temperature on Wednesday may not reach 20.
