Orinda Remains 1 Of Safest Cities In California: Police Chief

ORINDA, CA — The city of Orinda remains one of the safest cities in California, according to the Orinda Police Department.

Police Chief Ryan Sullivan provided his annual report to the City Council’s Public Safety Committee in February and noted that while community members see and hear about crime in the region, there was no upward trend in Orinda for 2023.

He also updated the committee on crime in general and some of the ongoing efforts to ensure Orinda is a safe community.

Orinda is a contract city with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, meaning the chief and the members of the police department are employed by the sheriff’s office and assigned to the Orinda Police Department.
