Water scarcity has been plaguing Shimla for the past 15 days with protests in several areas of the city. Tourism has taken a hit due to the water shortage and the municipal corporation has disconnected water supply to 43 hotels which have not paid their water bills. The situation in the city eased marginally on Saturday after supply increased from 22.5 MLD to 28 MLD. The city requires 32-35 million litres of water per day (MLD).
