SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…
NJPW and ROH have announced the lineup for G1 Supercard on April 6 at MSG in New York City, N.Y. The show will be headlined by IWGP Hvt. Champion Jay White vs. Kazuchika Okada. Okada won the NJPW Cup last weekend to get this title shot against White at MSG. White beat Okada at Wrestle Kingdom back in January before White beat Tanahashi for the IWGP Hvt. Championship in February.
The rest of the card is as follows:
You can watch this show on Fite.tv (iPPV), NJPW World (monthly sub), or on ROH’s Honor Club (monthly or annual sub).
Radican’s Analysis: This is a really strong lineup being presented by NJPW and ROH. It feels like mostly a NJPW card, which is good, as it felt like ROH didn’t have a ton of momentum coming out of the “17th Anniversary” PPV earlier this month. The card is really deep, especially with White vs. Okada, Tanahashi vs. Ibushi, and Sabre vs. Tanahashi bolstering the card really nicely.
The undercard should be really strong as well. The two winner takes all matches with Ospreay vs. Cobb for the NEVER Openweight and ROH World TV titles and the four-way for the ROH World Tag Team Titles and the IWGP Hvt. Tag Team Titles should be really good.
The plan for the show is to have an hour pre-show beginning at 6:30p.m. EST on April 6. The main show is expected to run from 7:30p.m. until midnight according to multiple sources I’ve spoken to this past week. It’s a shame that more NJPW talent couldn’t be fit on the main card, as I would have loved to have seen Minoru Suzuki and Tomohiro Ishii have a big moment at MSG.
