On Raw, Alexa Bliss took on Sasha Banks in a rematch from their SummerSlam encounter wherein Bliss was defeated by Sasha for the Raw Women’s Championship. Sasha Banks has won the championship on a few different occasions, but she has never been able to successfully defend the title, and she still hasn’t. Bliss defeated Sasha to regain the title in the main event of Monday’s Raw show. Nia Jax promptly came down to celebrate with the new champion before turning on her friend and dropping her down to the mat. It appears that Jax vs. Bliss could be the next feud for the title, or a variation also involving Banks.
Ric Flair has been in the hospital for a while due to some serious health issues. Although conflicting reports have been given, it is believed that Flair had surgery on his bowels before his kidneys later began failing on him. Ric Flair was placed in a medically induced coma for several days, but luckily more positive news has gotten out in recent weeks. Flair’s fiancee Wendy Barstow revealed that Flair is “doing very well,” and will be undergoing physical therapy soon. Ric Flair could still reportedly by in the hospital for months before he is back to normal. Barstow updated fans with the following message on her Facebook page recently:
“I wanted to update everyone on Ric’s progress as So many people have been reaching out and offering their Prayers and Support. He is doing very well for a Man who has been through so much! He will begin Physical Therapy shortly and will be stronger than ever and back out enjoying all the fans sooner than you would think. I can Honestly say I have witnessed a Miracle.”
A while back, Smackdown’s Mike Kanellis went public on his social media pages about an addiction that he once had with prescription drugs. The addiction began when he dislocated his knee cap three years ago, and he admitted that he hid his issues from his friends, family, and wife. Luckily, Mike decided to beat his addiction and posted on Twitter today that he has been clean for two months. Mike’s wife Maria posted a lengthy statement on her Instagram page showing photos of her husband’s recovery. She urged all of those who are going through a similar struggle to stay strong. Mike debuted while Maria returned for WWE earlier this year at Money in the Bank. They currently work together on Smackdown.
This was the first week of my husband’s recovery from prescription drugs. This was the hardest week of my life. People try and give advice or you can read every book but the truth is there is no right way for a person to get clean. My husband was addicted to prescription drugs and I didn’t know. You blame yourself. You blame the business. You blame God. But, anyone can become addicted. No one is safe. A glamorous job doesn’t protect you from addiction. It truly makes you wonder about everyone around you. Is that person hurting? What’s that person’s story? In these photos you see Mike in the hospital, finding his appetite, trying to workout, having a match for the first time at WWE, and playing with my niece with the marks from the Clonidine patch the hospital gave him still on his arm. Addicts don’t look like the people in the movies sometimes. They are just people that took a road they shouldn’t have. Mike is doing great. He channeled all that energy into working out and being healthy. Mike wanted to quit. Now, as we move forward even though the road is hard. It’s the right road. I love you, My Friend. WE believe in you. You are a hero to so many. Keep Fighting. Keep Pushing. Be the Miracle. @therealmichaelbennett #keepingupwithkanellises #holdhandsnothate #poweroflove
