Le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est que le premier mariage de Meghan Markle avec le producteur américain Trevor Engelson n’avait rien à voir avec ses noces royales de mai dernier avec le prince Harry. Dans une récente interview accordée au Daily Mail le 8 décembre 2018, le père de l’ex-actrice est revenu sur cette première fête célébrée en Jamaïque, il y a maintenant sept ans. Sa cadette avait alors tout organisé dans les moindres détails pour les quatre jours de fête au luxueux Jamaica Inn, connu pour avoir été l’hôtel où Marilyn Monroe a passé sa lune de miel avec Arthur Miller en 1956.

Avant d’assister au mariage célébré sur la plage par un rabbin, le père de Trevor Engelson, Thomas Markle explique que la centaine d’invités s’est vu remettre un cadeau surprenant : un petit sac de cannabis. “C’est illégal, mais ce n’est pas un problème en Jamaïque, a-t-il affirmé. Je ne fume pas de cannabis et à ce que je sache, Meghan non plus. Je ne sais pas ce que j’ai fait du mien. Je pense l’avoir donné.“
