Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State wrestling team moved up to seventh in the region and remains third in Northern Sun Intercollegiate rankings.
Adam Cooling (So.,157 lbs.) is ranked third in his weight class in the region, as is Da’Wayne Robertson (Jr., 125 lbs.) and Cody Quinn (Sr., 165 lbs.). Other Mavericks ranked regionally include Alphonso Vruno at #5, (Jr., 141 lbs.), Darick Vancura is sixth(So., 174 lbs.), Corey Abernathy (Fr., 184 lbs.) and Malcolm Allen are both seventh (Jr., 285 lbs.). Scott VanDeLoo comes in at #8 (Jr., 197 lbs.).
As a team, the Mavericks are tied for seventh with #17 Augustana.
MSU boasts three wrestlers who are ranked second in the conference including Robertson, Quinn and Vruno. Cooling, Vancura, and Abernathy are rated third, and VanDeLoo and Allen fourth. Trevor Schultz (So., 133 lbs.) and Dylan Herman (Fr., 149 lbs.) are both pegged at eighth in the NSIC
The Mavericks host their last dual of 2014-15 when Northern State visits Taylor Center Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
