The high-flying sensation Matt Sydal was the special guest on today’s Impact Wrestling teleconference with members of the media, and ProWrestling.com was on the call with the X-Division Champion this week. You can check out the full video above.

Sydal on his work ethic and him becoming a world-class champion: 

“It was a drive from when I was really young to not just be good, or be better than the people nearby me. I wanted to keep competing and pushing myself until I found myself among the people who I was getting eaten alive by. By constantly living in that situation, by always being a little fish in a big pond, by always working with people who are better than me, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m the champion and now the world-class challengers are stepping up to me.”

On wrestling Fenix in PWG and a possible match on Impact Wrestling: 

“Fenix surprised me the first time we wrestled at PWG Battle of Los Angeles. That’s a match worth putting on repeat. That’s one worth slowing down and re-watching. I remember he almost cracked my wrist; we went insane. When I wrestled Fenix for the first time, it reminded me of when I wrestled El Generico and Kevin Steen the first time. Without knowing the guy, or hardly even communicating, we went in there and spoke the international language of wrestling and it just created magic. I think if Fenix and I get in the ring again, there will be magic.”

On his love for tag team wrestling and potential tag team partners in the future: 

“I love tag wrestling. I love the beauty of tag team wrestling and six-man matches. I think there’s something incredibly special about them, and I feel like some of my best matches have been tag matches.”

“Paul London, a guy who also does the Shooting Star Press and who also has an individual mindset, I think he would be a great partner for me. The ‘Psychedelic Superstar’ Chris Silvio would be an excellent tag partner. My brother Mike Sydal, the yoga master, would be an incredible tag team partner. My old partner Ricochet is welcome to come tag with me too.”

“If you put me and Moose together as a tag team, I’m pretty sure you would have a t-shirt sellout, and the biggest babyface pop. We’d be doing the main events over the heavyweight title if it was me and Moose, because we’d be tag champions. Do you think LAX would stand a chance against me and Moose? No. We’ve just this connection, great timing together, and we’d be unstoppable.”
