Matt Murdock is back in action in a new volume of Daredevil, but his life just continues to get worse.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Daredevil #1!
The previous volume of Daredevil ended on a dark note. Matt thought he had finally triumphed over Mayor Fisk and exposed his crimes to the people of New York, only for the series to reveal that Matt had actually been trapped in a coma ever since being hit by a truck. This new series picks up weeks later, as Matt is returning to active duty as Daredevil and struggling to overcome his serious injuries.
Our hero has definitely seen better days as the new series opens. Fisk is still mayor. The NYPD are still actively hunting costumed vigilantes under orders from Fisk. And Matt is finding that even stopping a gang of armed robbers may be too much for his battered body to handle. What would once have been a simple brawl against unskilled foes instead devolves into a fight for Matt’s very life as his opponents get the better of him.

Matt manages to overpower the robbers and escape before the police arrive, but not without a heavy toll. Two of the crooks have been hospitalized for their injuries, while a third is dead from head trauma. Accidentally or not, Daredevil is apparently guilty of killing a man. We doubt that’s how Matt hoped to start this next phase of his superhero career.

This tragic development sets the tone for Daredevil’s newest monthly series. Whether Matt is truly guilty of manslaughter or this is all part of Fisk’s plan to discredit his nemesis, it’s clear that Daredevil is about to become public enemy number one in New York City.

The goal with Wonder Comics is to shine a light on DC's teen heroes, both new and existing. Bendis himself will be joining with Superman artist Patrick Gleason for a new volume of Young Justice, one which finally brings together Superboy, Robin, Wonder Girl and Impulse on the same team again. That series will debut in early January, to be followed by Naomi (by Bendis, David Walker and Jamal Campbell), Wonder Twins (by Mark Russel and Stephen Byrne) and Dial H (by Sam Humphries and Joe Quinones).

We'd be excited for any of these books individually. But taken as a whole, it's clear that DC is giving its younger heroes the big push they deserve this year.”,”height”:674,”width”:1199,”url”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/wonder-comics-1546900038489.jpg”,”styleUrl”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/wonder-comics-1546900038489_{size}.jpg”,”credit”:””,”objectRelationName”:””,”objectRelationUrl”:””,”albumName”:”IGN's 19 Most Anticipated Comics of 2019″,”relativePosition”:”02″,”albumTotalCount”:20},{“caption”:”

But if anything, we're even more interested in the future of Uncanny X-Men in February and beyond The series will shift focus as Wolverine and a newly resurrected Cyclops have to rally what few X-Men remain in order to defend the world from bigger and deadlier threats. Last time these two iconic heroes were on a team together, things didn't end so well. We can't wait to see how this uncomfortable reunion plays out.”,”height”:620,”width”:1103,”url”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/uncanny-x-men-1546900038487.jpg”,”styleUrl”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/uncanny-x-men-1546900038487_{size}.jpg”,”credit”:””,”objectRelationName”:””,”objectRelationUrl”:””,”albumName”:”IGN's 19 Most Anticipated Comics of 2019″,”relativePosition”:”03″,”albumTotalCount”:20},{“caption”:”

Thankfully, there is, and IDW is using this opportunity to give Transformers fans a fresh start.
Rather than continue exploring the aftermath of the original TV series, Boom's Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic will effectively reboot the saga when it debuts in January. Writer Jordie Bellaire and artist Dan Mora are taking Buffy, Willow, Xander and the rest of the gang and shifting them from the '90s to the present day. It's an interesting approach, and one that could allow this creative team to leave a huge mark on the franchise.”,”height”:580,”width”:1030,”url”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/buffy-at-boom-studios-1546900038473.jpg”,”styleUrl”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/buffy-at-boom-studios-1546900038473_{size}.jpg”,”credit”:””,”objectRelationName”:””,”objectRelationUrl”:””,”albumName”:”IGN's 19 Most Anticipated Comics of 2019″,”relativePosition”:”05″,”albumTotalCount”:20},{“caption”:”

Doomsday Clock #12 promises to be one of the most significant releases of the year. It's poised to wrap up a story Johns has been weaving for years.
In every one of these cases, it's the strong creative teams as much as the characters themselves that have us excited for the future of Marvel Comics.”,”height”:720,”width”:1279,”url”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/marvel-relaunches-1546900038482.jpeg”,”styleUrl”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/marvel-relaunches-1546900038482_{size}.jpeg”,”credit”:””,”objectRelationName”:””,”objectRelationUrl”:””,”albumName”:”IGN's 19 Most Anticipated Comics of 2019″,”relativePosition”:”07″,”albumTotalCount”:20},{“caption”:”

This original graphic novel from writer Lilah Sturges and artist Pius Bak is designed as a companion to the books. As the title suggests, it tells Alice's side of the story, offering a completely different perspective on the events of the first book. If you've ever wondered how Alice dealt with the punishing Brakebills curriculum, grappled with first love and with the tragedy of losing a brother and how she felt during that chaotic, transformative first trip to Fillory, this graphic novel should cover all the bases.”,”height”:580,”width”:1030,”url”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/magicians-alices-story-1546900038480.jpg”,”styleUrl”:”https://assets1.ignimgs.com/2019/01/07/magicians-alices-story-1546900038480_{size}.jpg”,”credit”:””,”objectRelationName”:””,”objectRelationUrl”:””,”albumName”:”IGN's 19 Most Anticipated Comics of 2019″,”relativePosition”:”09″,”albumTotalCount”:20},{“caption”:”

It appears that 2019 is when we'll finally get to read that story Unfortunately, DC recently canceled the first issue and delayed the series' planned January start date.
Criminal is returning in January as an ongoing monthly series.
Monstress #19 will hit stores in January. Unfortunately, there'll be a longer wait in store Saga #55.
That's only the beginning of Marvel's plans for Conan, however.
