Los Alamitos finishes season No. 1 in USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — California state champion Los Alamitos led the way at No. 1 in an unchanged first nine in the final USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 poll of the 2017 season.

The five teams in spots 10-14 — La Cueva (N.M.), Bentonville (Ark.), Gahr (Calif.), Kaukauna (Wis.) and Oakleaf (Fla.) — all moved up one place apiece, while No. 18 Lakewood (Ohio) and No. 19 Immaculate Heart Academy (N.J.) each gained two positions in the last ranking.

Newcomers to the poll are state titlists No. 15 Dakota (Mich.), No. 16 North Medford (Ore.), No. 17 Shawnee Heights (Kan.), No. 24 Keller (Texas) and No. 25 Hamilton (Ariz.).

Five familiar faces — New Jersey’s Donovan Catholic, Maryland’s Leonardtown, Kentucky’s Male, Arizona’s Pinnacle and California’s Stockdale — dropped out this week.

State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to compile the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25.
