Hog Fire Stopped In Northern Sonoma County

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A vegetation fire broke out Tuesday northwest of Cloverdale but was stopped at 4.21 acres.

The Hog Fire was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in a rural area near Hogwarts Way and state Highway 128. By 4:23 p.m., it was 2-3 acres and moving uphill “with a wind on it,” according to Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.

At 4:39 p.m., the Hog Fire was approximately 5 acres in timber but there was no torching, which is “ignition and flare-up of a tree or group of trees,” Cal Fire said.

An additional air tanker was requested, bringing air support to three air tankers and three type-1 helicopters. Within 40 minutes, air and ground resources made good progress on the blaze, according to Cal Fire, which battled the fire alongside local agencies.

Forward progress of the blaze was stopped by 6:15 p.m.
