Fortnite Season 8 Could Feature Pirates and Snake Monsters

The Fortnite Twitter account has been slowly dropping hints about the game’s upcoming Season 8, and it seems the new theme may centre around fantasy piracy.

In what seem to be daily tweets, rhymes and teaser images have pointed squarely to a pirate theme. The first is the clearest, from the theme of treasure to the hook-hand in the image:

But it’s the second tweet that’s perhaps more interesting. While talk of caves and waves still evoke piracy, the first word and image seem to point to something more serpentine:

Players of Fortnite have wondered for some time whether the game may introduce an AI boss character of some kind, and a giant serpent would fit that bill neatly.

It’s not unfeasible – the Save the World segment of the game could provide the framework for PvE within Battle Royale, and the game’s worldwide events prove that the Epic’s servers can handle major moving elements that attract the bulk of the playerbase.

As ever, we won’t know more until the game itself starts changing around us. The Battle Royale map has been cracked by earthquakes recently, and you can be sure we’ll begin seeing the world altering further in the next few days.

Season 8 is expected to go live on Thursday, February 28.
