Speaking during a press conference following the sacking of Lucien Favre as OGC Nice manager, sporting director Florent Ghisolfi refused to put a timescale on the arrival of a new manager.
In a press conference attended by Get French Football News’ Luke Entwistle, Les Aiglons president Jean-Pierre Rivère first addressed Favre’s departure, which just three days after a six-week-long World Cup break. “We took a collective decision calmly. It isn’t just because of the Coupe de France defeat. It comes from a much longer, deeper reflection in order to breathe life back into this team,” he said.
Former Nice captain Didier Digard, who has been working at the club since 2021 and integrated Favre’s staff back in November, takes over in the interim. Julien Stéphan and Domenico Tedesco have notably been linked with the managerial job by RMC Sport, however, sporting director Ghisolfi has assured that the club are not rushing their recruitment process, refusing to put a timescale on the arrival of a new manager.
“There is no timescale. We are trying to concentrate on our immediate tasks. Choosing a new manager is important for our project. We know where we are going and we aren’t going to rush,” he said.
