WORTH, IL — The family of a Worth man killed in a wrong-way crash earlier this month in unincorporated Palos Township has set up an online fundraiser to provide for his sons expenses and his wife’s medical costs, who was also seriously injured in the crash.
Burley ”BJ” Patterson, 40, and his wife, Christine, were almost home from a date night when a drunk driver driving in the wrong lane of traffic plowed into them and two other vehicles near 109th Street and Southwest Highway just after midnight Aug. 6. The driver is facing felony charges of reckless homicide and aggravated DUI. Christine and another passenger in the vehicle were both critically injured.

His wife, Christine, has recently been released from Advocate Christ Medical Center, but has many months of recovery ahead of her, physically, mentally and emotionally, as she copes with the death of her husband. A memorial fund has been set up for their five sons, ages 16, 15, 2 and 26-year-old twins’ expenses “as their father would have wanted and always set out to do.”
Burley was a talented entrepreneur who founded and developed BluDev. LLC., a successful Amazon e-commerce business. At the time of his death, Burley began to take the company into real estate investments and stock investments. His vision far exceeded his current establishments and he was working on many other ventures.
Friends and family will remember Burley for his infectious smile and laugh, positive attitude, and undying loyalty and love for his family.

“His ambition for success was like no other, famously saying ‘I always get what I want’; not because of arrogance but because of the confidence he had in his own skill set that he knew he would succeed in anything he put his mind to,” Christine Patterson said.
Visitation for Burley will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, followed by a 10:30 a.m. service at Callahan Funeral Home, 7046 S. Halsted St., Chicago.
