“The main thing is to have a safe place for people in recovery to go,” Wilsey said. “We have a lot of people that come to Cape Cod and the come for treatment, end up staying and they end up roaming around and don’t have [anywhere] to go and get themselves back in trouble.”

Wilsey explained that the center can provide a safe haven for people to come if they find themselves on the Cape for treatment. The center can help in any employment and housing search, important steps to help those in recovery help get on their feet.

Wilsey comes to the Falmouth location after serving as the assistant program director at the Hyannis location.

“We’ve had great success with these,” said Wilsey, who shared that overdoses and violence haven’t been a big part of the picture at the centers.

In Falmouth, Friday marks the latest chapter in that path forward for those in recovery.
