GLASTONBURY, CT — A 66-year-old driver wound up with several charges after she tried to get away from police amid a drunken driving arrest in Vernon, state police said.
State police released details on the incident this week.
According to crash and arrest reports, at 12:34 p.m., state troopers and Vernon police received several 911 calls about a crash and subsequent altercation among the parties involved at the Exit 67 eastbound off-ramp on Interstate 84. When police arrived, they detained the “primary aggressor,” identified as a 66-year-old Glastonbury woman, because of she showed “visible signs” of intoxication, reports indicate.
After failing sobriety tests, the woman was placed in a state police cruiser, from which she tried to escape, reports indicate.
The woman was charged with criminal attempt at escape from custody, along with driving under the influence, following too closely, interfering with police, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault, according to an arrest report.
