Driver Shipped Back To CT After Fleeing Bill At Truck Stop: Warrant

WILLINGTON, CT — A trucker has been charged with driving away from a repair bill at the Travel Center of America facility in Willington.

The man was extradited from New Hampshire on East Sunday and is now facing a fourth-degree larceny charge in Connecticut, state police said.

According to an arrest warrant, at 9:32 p.m. on July 31, the driver pulled into the T.A. Truck stop and inquired about repairs. The 26-foot box truck was looked at and a quote was approved by the driver, according to a warrant.

An employee of the truck stop told state police that, after the repairs were completed, he was finalizing the bill when the driver exited the shop.

The driver then boarded his truck and drove away, according to a warrant. Staffers tried to block the gate with company vehicles, but the truck sped away before they could get there, according to a warrant.
