Aderholt, a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, said he has secured $450,000 for renovations and expansion work for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office substation in Samantha.
The congressman said the renovated substation on Finnell Road will become a multi-service government center that supports the expansion of emergency services, county support to citizens, and community functions.
“This is a major improvement for the community to get a dedicated Sheriff’s substation at this location and the building can be used for community meetings and as a polling place as needed,” District 1 County Commissioner Stan Acker told Patch.
Acker then said the county will use the federal funds to also install fueling stations for the Sheriff’s Office and Road & Bridge Department vehicles.
“This will help keep them out in the district without having to refuel downtown or at the Coker road camp,” he said.
