Concord Basement, House Fire On Foster Street Goes To 2 Alarms: Watch

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to Foster Street for a house and basement fire on Friday morning.

A little past 2 a.m., firefighters were sent to the home, not far from North State Street, in the Fosterville neighborhood, for a report of smoke in the basement. Upon arrival, the fire commander confirmed smoke was coming from the eaves of a two-story single-family home.

They called for a working fire tone and said the home’s occupant confirmed fire in their basement.

The commander said there was a hydrant not far from the home. More firefighters and EMTs were also called to the scene.

A second alarm was requested about five minutes later.

The fire commander requested lighting also be set up near the entrance of the basement of the home.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down around 2:15 a.m. Firefighters began checking the home for extensions and opening up walls while also installing fans to air out the home. Utilities were shut down, and Unitil was also requested to the scene. Firefighters for the second alarm were staged on Foster Street, the commander told dispatch. They also requested a fire prevention officer.

Around 2:30 a.m., the second alarm companies, firefighters from Bow, Boscawen, Hooksett, Loudon, and Pembroke, as well as Chichester and Hopkinton EMTs, were requested to the city for station coverage mutual aid and assistance.

Around 2:45 a.m., the battalion chief began releasing the staging firefighters and had them cover the city instead while firefighters continued working to find any fire extension in the building.

Around 3 a.m., firefighters began clearing the scene.

News 603 posted a video on Facebook from the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown at post time. It is also unknown if there were any injuries at the scene.

Fire Chief John Chisolm said there were no firefighter injuries. A faulty battery charging setup was believed to be the cause of the fire.
