Holliday vs. Muertes will be a Caribbean Rules (anything goes) match.

Muertes is part of Azteca Underground in MLW. Cesar Duran (formerly known as Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground) is the boss of Azteca Underground and will make his MLW debut at the Battle Riot tapings.

Holliday and Muertes will both also be taking part in the 40-man Battle Riot match at the tapings. The winner of the Battle Riot will receive an MLW World Heavyweight Championship shot whenever they want.

The announcement of the Holliday vs. Muertes Caribbean Championship match was made during round five of MLW’s 2021 Open Draft. It was also announced that TJP and Violence is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) will be returning for MLW’s new season that kicks off with the Battle Riot tapings. MLW teased that TJP is eyeing Myron Reed’s MLW Middleweight Championship.
