Bridgewater Gets $4M To Improve 100-Acre Camp Cromwell

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Township will receive $4 million in federal funding to improve Camp Cromwell.

“The check is in the mail,” said Bridgewater Council President Timothy Ring at the March 21 meeting.

The Township applied for the funding in the summer of 2023 through Congressman Tom Kean, Jr.’s Office.

“That’s a $4 million check coming to the Township of Bridgewater that will go a long way in helping to restore Camp Cromwell and open it up for the public in the near future,” said Ring.

Camp Cromwell, a sprawling 100-acre park nestled off Vosseller Avenue, was purchased in 2017 from the Boys Club of New York, who utilized the park as an overnight summer camp space. Since that time, the Bridgewater Police Department has utilized the site for training purposes, as the park itself requires remediation before it can be opened for public use.

“This funding represents a significant investment in our community’s well-being and quality of life. We are thankful to our Congressman, Tom Kean Jr., who tirelessly advocated on behalf of Bridgewater. We are committed to making Camp Cromwell into a vibrant and verdant space where residents can connect with nature, engage in recreational activities, and create lasting memories with their families and friends,” said Mayor Matthew Moench in a release.

The Township has plans to use the funds to provide substantive active and passive recreation.
