LAKE COUNTY, IL — Authorities believe a body pulled from Fourth Lake over the weekend is a hunter who went missing last week.
Patrick R. Serzynski, 60, of unincorporated Lake Villa, was last heard from on Oct. 30 when he was hunting in his duck blind on Fourth Lake, which is located south of Lindenhurst and west of Gurnee.
Police recovered his boat shortly after he was reported missing and found a body in the lake Saturday morning following an extensive search, according to ABC 7 Chicago. Police say the clothing and general description matched Serzynski and an autopsy has been scheduled with the Lake County Coroner’s Office, which may reveal more information on what caused the death.
Police told Patch last week that they believe Serzynski fell off his boat into the water. It’s unclear at this point what lead to him falling into the lake.
The lake is shallow and has an extremely murky and weedy bottom, which made it hard for search crews to use sonar equipment to locate Serzynski, Covelli told Patch Thursday.
