Backstage Update On How Sick Braun Strowman Was Last Week, Speculation On Kurt Angle Replacing Enzo Amore in MMC

As noted, WWE Raw star Braun Strowman was sent home from the WWE holiday tour last week due to illness, which was said to be a bad case of the flu. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting Strowman was said to be “violently” ill, and there was concern he would miss Raw this week but he appeared and competed in a match.

In related news, Enzo Amore was also sent back to his hotel in Miami on Monday after being checked into the hospital for a bad case of the flu, which forced him to miss the New Year’s Day edition of WWE Raw. Enzo was scheduled to defend the WWE Cruiserweight Title on Raw, but the match has been postponed due to Enzo’s illness.

Enzo was also pulled from the WWE Mixed Match Challenge by Raw GM Kurt Angle, as a result of Enzo’s illness, and the leader of the “Zo Train” will be replaced in the tournament. The announcement of Enzo being pulled from the WWE MMC has lead to speculation that Kurt Angle himself will be replacing him, however The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that is not the case and Angle will not replace Enzo.

Enzo originally contracted the flu while he was in Toronto for the WWE holiday live event, and he ended up not competing against Kalisto that night as scheduled. Enzo did not want to go to the hospital in Toronto, so he waited until he arrived in Miami before checking himself into a Miami medical facility.
