The Wrestling Observer is reporting that AXS TV (The American broadcaster of New Japan Pro Wrestling action) will announce that they will be doing a marathon of New Japan Wrestling on January 6th, capping off with a 3-hour special featuring WrestleKingdom 12 matches (held two nights before). The 11 hour marathon that day will cover the biggest matches of New Japan in the last six months including Kenny Omega’s matches with Tomohiro Ishii from the Long Beach special, the much anticipated Omega vs. Okada 3 match from the G1 tournament, and the recently aired match where he defended the U.S. Title for the first time, against Juice Robinson.
Then starting January 12 in the regular Friday night timeslot, AXS will air the Wrestlekingdom 12 shows that will be five weeks of new episodes. AXS TV Fights CEO Andrew Simon said, “While NJPW has delivered some of the greatest matches in wrestling history over the past year, we’ve seen viewership growth on AXS TV thanks to New Japan’s expansion in the U.S. and our commitment to air matches closer to when they take place. With WrestleKingdom as their marquee annual event, we thank NJPW and TV Asahi for their support and are proud to kick off 2018 with this historical prime time Saturday night special featuring the dream match-up Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho.“
