8/23 Impact Wrestling Viewership Grows Slightly for Callihan/Pentagon Mexican Death Match

The 8/23 edition of Impact Wrestling continued the promotion’s slow but steady upward climb, after reaching near record lows in the weeks following Slammiversary.

This week’s show drew an estimated 212,000 viewers for a main event featuring Sami Callihan vs. Pentagon Jr. in a Mexican Death Match. Unfortunately, the number is only up about 1% week-over-week, and is still among the lowest in company history, but an increase is still an increase.

Thursday night’s final cable ratings are not available yet, but as far as network television numbers go, the NFL Pre-Season topped the night with 5.73 million viewers. Big Bang Theory did 5.83 million in the 8PM timeslot, and Big Brother led the 9PM timeslot with 5.61 million.

For the sake of comparison, this week’s show was down 28% from the 8/24 episode last year, and down a shocking 43% from the 8/25 show in 2016. They will be looking to bounce back next week with the Impact Wrestling ReDefined television special, featuring two championship matches and the return of Rich Swann.
