Former WWE superstar “Playboy” Buddy Rose (real name Paul Perschmann) was found dead in his home in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday afternoon. No cause of death is known at this time, though he told people that he had been having blood sugar issues with his diabetes of late. He was a former mid-card heel with many promotions, including the AWA, the WWF, and various independent promotions in Portland, Oregon.
Rose was an AWA tag team champion with his partner “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers and had a great tag team feud with the young Midnight Rockers, Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. In an interesting bit of trivia, Rose wrestled in the first ever WrestleMania match against Tito Santana as the masked Executioner.
Early 1990’s WWF fans will remember Rose’s “Blow Away Diet” vignettes (Youtube link). He was perhaps best known for his bit where a ring announcer would announce him as 270 pounds and he’d correct them, claiming he actually weighed 217 (or some variation of that joke).

Our condolences go out to family, friends and fans of Playboy Buddy Rose.
