THQ Nordic Has 35 Unannounced Games in Development

Gaming publisher THQ Nordic has several big-name titles on the way, including Darksiders III and Metro Exodus, but the company hasn’t played its whole hand just yet. In fact, it has 35 unannounced games currently in development.

During a Q3 financial report on November 14, THQ Nordic founder and CEO Lars Wingefors shared that 55 total games were being produced by the end of the most recent quarter, of which only 20 have been revealed thus far.

THQ Nordic has also continued its recent spree of buying up developers by acquiring Coffee Stain Studios (Goat Simulator) and Bugbear Entertainment (Wreckfest).

THQ Nordic, which was previously called Nordic Games, has grown in recent years after acquiring the rights to series like Red Faction and Darksiders. The company acquired publisher Deep Silver last year, as well, which brought franchises Saints Row, Metro, Dead Island, and Homefront along with it.

Coincidentally, Metro, Homefront, and Saints Row began as series owned by the original THQ, from which THQ Nordic got its new name in 2016. At that time, only 13 unannounced games were in development.

The publisher’s been so prolific in its buying spree that we were forced to ask one of its executives what exactly the publisher had planned for all its new IPs.

Darksiders III will release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 27, while Metro Exodus is out for the same systems on February 22, 2019.

Another brand new THQ Nordic game, BioMutant, is planned for release next summer, and combines anthropomorphic animal creatures with martial arts and a post-apocalyptic setting.
