WWE SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan took a photo of themselves having some fun at the expense of the new WWE Universal Championship, which was posted on Shane’s official Twitter page on Tuesday.
As noted, WWE will crown their first-ever Universal Champion at this Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view in Brooklyn, New York. The title match will feature former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins going one-on-one with former NXT World Champion “The Demon King” Finn Balor for the brand new, vacant title, which is essentially the new RAW-brand World Championship.
It’s interesting to note that part of the reason Joey Styles was rumored to have been released from his role as WWE’s Vice President of Digital Media Content was because he openly criticized the WWE Universal Championship, publicly knocking the name “Universal Championship,” on WWEs own social media account, which is exactly what Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan appear to be doing in the photo below.
