WWE Raw Results 5/8

We’re live from WWE Raw in front of 17,323 fans in O2 Arena at London, England.
Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose is backstage on the phone with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, and he says he has a big announcement to make when he makes his way to the ring. Ambrose says Angle won’t be at Raw and named the Lunatic Fringe as acting general manager. Ambrose is then promptly interrupted by The Miz and Maryse.
The Miz says picking names out of a hat at random and making matches would be better than letting Ambrose decide the show. The Miz then says he received a phone call from Stephanie McMahon, and she named The A-Lister as co-acting general manager.

Ambrose then threatens to lay a beating on The Miz at the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view. As the two are about to shake hands, Braun Strowman heads to the ring with his injured left arm in a sling. Strowman says he’s not done with Roman Reigns, and when his arm is healed he will end Reigns. The Gift of Destruction then says he wants a shot at Brock Lesnar when he’s done with Reigns.
Kalisto then makes an appearance at the top of the ramp, and demands to have a match with Strowman on Monday Night Raw. Strowman says he could beat Kalisto with one arm. So, Ambrose makes a match with the injured Mountain Among Men and Kalisto.
Ambrose then makes the opening match of the night – The Miz versus Finn Balor.
Finn Balor Defeats The Miz with Maryse

The Miz is already in the ring as Finn Balor gets a standing ovation during his entrance in a rematch of last week’s Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender Match. The Demon King gained the early advantage with a series of kicks, including a two-footed dropkick outside the ring into the crowd barricade.
The A-Lister reversed momentum during the commercial break, as some interference from Maryse allowed Miz to ambush Balor on the ring apron. The new No. 1 contender to the Intercontinental belt tried to hit a Skullcrushing Finale, but Balor rolled him up for a near fall. After kicking out, the Miz hit a DDT to get a 2-count.
Finn battled back on the strength of an overhead kick, some running forearms and a series of kicks which sent Miz out of the ring.

As Maryse interfered again, the Miz pushed Balor into the referee, whose back was turned. The Miz then left the ring and declared as co-acting general manager that a WWE superstar couldn’t touch a referee so Balor was disqualified.
As The Miz celebrated and left to go backstage, Dean Ambrose ran to the top of the ramp and overturned Miz’s decision, saying the match would begin again. Balor then ran Miz into the ring, hit a Slingblade and followed it up with a Coup De Grace for the victory.
Nia Jax Confronts Raw Women’s Champ Alexa Bliss
In a backstage promo, Nia Jax questions if the champ really meant what she said when she called Jax “great” last week. Bliss said she did. Jax responded by saying she wants a shot at the title when Bliss is finished with Bayley. The Wicked Witch of the WWE said Jax was deserving, but Raw GM Kurt Angle makes the matches. Jax then says that Bliss has a new best friend until she gets her shot at gold.
Raw Women’s Champ Alexa Bliss with Nia Jax Defeats Mickie James with Bayley
Since the champ brought a friend to the ring, Mickie James brought Bayley out to back her up.
The challenger started strong out of the gate with a snapmare takedown, a few dropkicks and a neckbreaker that sent Bliss out of the ring.
The champ got the edge during the break and started targeting James’ left arm. She yanked James’ arm and dropped her to the mat.
Mickie rebounded and looked to hit a top rope maneuver when Jax grabbed her ankle. Bayley took out Jax out of the ring with a crossbody off the metal steps, but in the ring Bliss used the distraction to punch James off the ropes and pin her for the win.
Bayley chased Bliss backstage after the match. Jax then ambushed James, driving the former six-time champion into the turnbuckle with a corner splash.
Seth Rollins Ambushes Samoa Joe Backstage
During a backstage interview, Samoa Joe says that his beef with The Architect isn’t over until he says it’s over, and that he will injure him yet again. Seth Rollins then comes flying into the screen and immediately starts punching The Destroyer until they are separated.
Braun Strowman vs. Kalisto – No Contest
Before the match starts, the Monster Among Men, with his left arm in a sling, grabs the microphone and says he’s not accepting the match acting GM Dean Ambrose made because he’s injured. It looks like he starts to walk away, but as the bell to start the match rings he immediately drops Kalisto. As Strowman sends Kalisto out of the ring, Roman Reigns makes his entrance.
The Big Dog also has his left shoulder wrapped as the rivals stare each other down. Reigns then hits three Superman punches to Strowman’s injured left arm. As the Roman Empire charged at him outside the ring, Strowman dropped him briefly with a Big Boot.
Undaunted, Reigns went back to work on Strowman’s injured arm, ripping off the sling and ramming the arm several times into the ring post before bashing it with a chair.
Strowman made a hasty retreat through the crowd as Reigns yelled, “Whose yard is it now?”
TAG TEAM TURMOIL MATCH #1 – Sheamus & Cesaro Defeat Big Cass & Enzo Amore
The rules of the tag team turmoil are that two teams start the match and the winner immediately faces the next team until there is only the No. 1 contenders for the Hardy Boyz’ Raw Tag Team titles left.
Big Cass & Sheamus started things out. Big Cass got rolling with a corner splash, body slam and Empire Elbow. But the tide turned when Enzo tagged in.
With Enzo taking a beating, he looked to escape by ducking out of an uppercut on the ropes before hitting Cesaro with an Enziguiri kick. Just when it looked like he would tag Cass, the Celtic Warrior yanked him off the ring apron.
Cesaro then got Enzo to tap out in the Sharpshooter.
TAG TEAM TURMOIL MATCH #2 – Sheamus & Cesaro Defeat Heath Slater & Rhyno
Sheamus and Cesaro jumped on Heath Slater & Rhyno before they could even make their entrance, taking Rhyno out of the match completely.
Cesaro landed a European Uppercut on Slater, and then held him for Sheamus to finish him off with a Brogue Kick.
TAG TEAM TURMOIL MATCH #3 – Sheamus & Cesaro Defeat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson
As Gallows and Anderson tried to land a double team move on Sheamus, Cesaro ambushed them, knocking Gallows out of the ring.
Sheamus then drilled Anderson with a Brogue Kick for the win.
TAG TEAM TURMOIL FINAL – Sheamus & Cesaro Defeat Golden Truth
Goldust and R Truth started quickly with Goldust hitting a powerful scoop slam on the Celtic Warrior. Cesaro then interfered, and swung the momentum. Both Cesaro & Sheamus targeted Goldust’s left knee. Cesaro tried to finish him off with a Sharpshooter, but R Truth hit him from behind.
Goldust escaped for a tag, and R Truth cleaned house for a while. It looked like R Truth would get the win when he hit the Lie Detector, but Cesaro kicked out. As R Truth went for a corner splash, Cesaro ducked it and R Truth rammed his shoulder into the ring post.
Cesaro then rolled up R Truth for the victory. Sheamus and Cesaro became the No. 1 contenders with the victory.
Sheamus and Cesaro started beating on both Goldust and R Truth after the match, but promptly fled the ring when the Hardy Boyz tried to confront them.
Seth Rollins Defeats Samoa Joe By Disqualification
The Kingslayer and The Destroyer renewed their rivalry which started when Joe injured Rollins’ knee and rolled over into Rollins’ victory at Payback. Joe gained revenge by interfering last week, ambushing The Architect in the triple-threat No. 1 contender match for the Intercontinental Championship to hand the victory to the Miz.
With Rollins on the ring apron, Joe kicked him in the surgically repaired knee, crumpling Rollins into a pile on the mat outside the ring. Rollins’ writhed in pain, holding his knee, as we went to a break.
The Samoan Submission Machine continued his assault on the knee. He dropped a Big Elbow and got a 2-count.
Rollins rallied with a few suicide dives and a top-rope forearm, but Joe grabbed the momentum back with a vicious scoop slam. The Architect fought back by nailing the 282-pound Joe with a Falcon Arrow Suplex and a series of kicks. Joe then rammed Rollins chest first into an exposed turnbuckle.
The referee tried to fix the turnbuckle, but Joe took the pad from the referee and threw it away. The referee warned Joe not to use the turnbuckle again, but he threw Rollins’ head into it. That’s when he was disqualified. As Rollins was announced as the winner, Joe locked in a Cohita Clutch.
TJP Defeats Gentleman Jack Gallagher
Cruiserweight Champion Neville joined the announce team prior to the match. Earlier in the day on Facebook, Neville told TJP he would be the No. 1 contender to the Cruiserweight title if he could beat Gentleman Jack.
As TJP mocked Gentleman Jack with a two-finger peace sign, Gallagher answered by dabbing. TJP then charged at him and dabbed in his face. Gentleman Jack then got a near fall when he landed a big headbutt.
Gallagher continued to press the advantage with a few European Uppercuts and back-to-back dropkicks. Gentleman Jack then tried to roll up TJP, who reversed into a roll up of his own and grabbed a handful of tights to hold on for the win.
After the match, TJP targeted Jack’s knee, undercutting him from behind and getting in a kneelock. Austin Aries then came out of the crowd and attacked TJP to stop the assault on Gallagher.
Sasha Banks Defeats Alicia Fox
Foxy hit a Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall, and kept Banks grounded in a headlock on the mat to start the match. The Boss rallied with a Hurricanrana, and scored a fairly quick victory with Double Knees off the top rope.
Commentator Corey Graves said after the match that it looked like Fox got her right shoulder up, so this may be a way to introduce some controversy into a storyline between Banks and Fox going forward.
Bray Wyatt Defeats Intercontinental Champ Dean Ambrose
The Miz and Maryse join the announce team before the match. The Eater of Worlds controlled the early part of the match, including a big suplex outside the ring.
The Lunatic Fringe continued taking a beating until he landed a flying forearm off the top rope on Wyatt outside the ring. Ambrose then hit a running clothesline, and Miz and Maryse headed to the ring to distract Ambrose.
As Ambrose glared at Miz, Wyatt nearly hit Sister Abigail, but Ambrose reversed it. Wyatt then attempted a suplex off the top rope. Ambrose hit some headbutts to knock Wyatt to the mat. He failed to connect on a top rope forearm, but hit a clothesline. Ambrose then hit Miz, who was holding the Intercontinental belt outside the ring, with a suicide dive.
The Miz then hit Ambrose in the back with the title belt outside the ring. Wyatt finished off a dazed Ambrose with Sister Abigail.
The A-Lister then assaulted Ambrose after the match, clawing at his eyes and punching him in the face. The Miz then boasted he would win the gold on Raw next week.
