Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Returns, Joe & Cass Updates

WWE announced last week that the female superstars will be given the chance to compete in the first-ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal match at WrestleMania in April. The male superstars will still be competing in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal during the event as usual. The return of the match was officially confirmed during last night’s edition of Raw when Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival officially declared themselves as the first two men in this year’s match. With the brand new Andre the Giant documentary coming out on HBO very soon, this is the most appropriate time to bring the annual match back to WrestleMania once again.
One WWE performer who may not be competing at WrestleMania this year is Raw’s Samoa Joe due to an injury that he received earlier this year that has forced him to stay out of action. Details on Joe’s recovery from his injury have remained scarce for the most part, but a new report may indicate some good news for the former NXT Champion. PWInsider just recently reported that Joe was backstage for last night’s Raw show in Dallas, Texas. No word on why exactly he was there, but with Braun Strowman recently revealing that he needs to find himself a tag team partner for WrestleMania, The Bar could have a real challenge on their hands if Strowman and Joe do team up for this year’s show.
Unfortunately, it appears that Raw Superstar Big Cass will not be getting cleared from his own injury in time for WrestleMania in April. However, it also appears that Samoa Joe was not the only interesting superstar of note backstage during last night’s Raw show. PWInsider is claiming that Cass was also backstage for the show last night. Although Big Cass was originally not expected to return to the ring until May at the earliest, the report says that Cass was meeting with WWE doctors as he is in the final stages of recovering from his injury. Big Cass was being pushed as a top star on Raw before his injury occurred, and perhaps he could be Strowman’s partner if he can get cleared in time.
