In recent months, WWE has introduced the North American Championship in NXT and there are plans to introduce a Tag Team Championship for the 205 Live brand.
Due to the signing of Ronda Rousey, you can expect to see an influx of female wrestlers added to the roster over the course of this year. WWE is doing everything possible (more than ever before) to put more emphasis on their female Superstars.
In recent months, there have been talks about adding a secondary title for the women. The problem has always been that there wasn’t enough depth to make it worth. Just a couple of years ago, they only had a handful of female Superstars on the main roster. Now, it’s not uncommon to see at least two women’s matches on pay-per-views.
WWE.com recently posted an article titled “Five controversial decisions we’d like to see Paige make as SmackDown LIVE General Manager.” The item that ranked number 1 on their list was for the creation of Women’s Tag Team Titles.
The Bella Twins are on board with this idea and they seemingly included a jab at two of the newest main roster Superstars Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.
At one point, the idea of a secondary title for the women seemed very unlikely. Now, it seems like it’s just a matter of when it will happen.
