James Storm is a veteran in the wrestling industry who has won numerous top championships and has received accolades in just about every promotion that he has ever worked for. However, he is hoping to score another huge accomplishment soon as he will be challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at the NWA pop-up “New Year’s Clash” event later on tonight. While speaking with WrestleZone, Storm outlined some of his goals for the NWA title if he ends up winning it, and he said that he wants to add onto the historic and prestigious legacy that the championship already has. James Storm will be facing Aldis in his home state of Tennessee during the NWA show this evening.
“When I got the phone call that I was going to challenge [Nick Aldis], I was pretty ecstatic about it. I have a NWA world title that was signed by Dusty Rhodes back when he was with TNA – I’m friends with Ric Flair – to be able to win it and pay homage to those guys while having my name added to the list to the guys that won the belt would be pretty cool.” Storm said.
Impact Wrestling will be coming to Nashville, Tennessee for an event of their own tomorrow night. The promotion will be hosting their Homecoming pay-per-view in The Asylum, which is where it all began for Impact nearly two decades ago. The show features a ton of matches that could prove to be highly entertaining, including a world title match between Johnny Impact and Brian Cage. It’s easy to understand why Impact fans are looking forward to this one, and Impact is now inviting fans to watch the cold open to the pay-per-view. For those who cannot wait until tomorrow, the entire opening for the Homecoming event has been uploaded to Impact’s YouTube channel and it can be watched down below.
AJ Styles may have lost the WWE Championship recently, and he also attacked WWE Chairman Vince McMahon on SmackDown weeks ago, but it sounds like “The Phenomenal One” isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Styles’ deal with WWE is said to be expiring at some point this year and he has been negotiating a terms for a new contract with the company for a while now. In an update from Cageside Seats, Styles is now expected to remain a WWE Superstar for at least a few more years. Although promotions like Impact, ROH, NJPW, and All Elite Wrestling would likely love to have AJ working for them, it is now believed that Styles is fine with where he is right now. It was reported long ago that Styles wanted less dates in his new WWE deal. Although there is no word on whether or not WWE agreed to those terms, this report may indicate that an agreement between both parties may have been struck.
