31 Indian Business Tycoons Including Mallya, Modi, Choksi Owing Rs 40,000 Crore Have Fled India

When the Punjab National Bank fraud case surfaced, many had expressed reservations that the scam was just the tip of the iceberg. The subsequent revelations and similar scams that have since tumbled out reiterated the fears. Now, for the first time the government has acknowledged the names of economic offender who have fled the country and are now living abroad.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar said 31 business tycoons including Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Ritesh Jain, Sanjay Bhandari, Soumit Jena, Sunil Ramesh Rupani and Ashish Jobanputra are either wanted by the Enforcement Directorate or the CBI.
