While the US and Russia are already at loggerheads on Syria, things don’t seem to be calm elsewhere. Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be in no mood of taking any step back from his aggressive position in geopolitics. This reminds many of the Cold War era as well. In a recent showdown, two US fighter jets intercepted two Russian bombers in international airspace near the coast of Alaska.
Two Alaska based NORAD F-22 fighter jets intercepted and visually identified Russian bombers until they left the Air Defense Identification Zone about 200 miles off the coast of Alaska at 10 am EST (1400 GMT).
The Russian TU-95 “Bear” bombers flew over the coast, North American Aerospace Defense Command spokesman Canadian Army Major Andrew Hennessy said in a statement to CNN.
