At 11:36 p.m., an officer on patrol near 20 East Cass Street saw a woman on the ground with an injury to her face. As the officer approached to provide aid, a male, later identified as Chicola, approached the officer in an aggressive fashion.

“It was determined that Chicola was the husband of the female,” English announced.

Once the officer indicated an ambulance would be called for the woman, Chicola grew angry and pushed past an officer while threatening the officer. As the officer tried to further assist the victim, Chicola pushed the officer’s arm away.

Joliet police believe that the victim had been struck in the face by Chicola.

As for Chicola, he struggled with the officers who tried to place him into custody. Officers were able to secure Chicola. The victim was taken to Silver Cross Hospital by the Joliet Fire Department for treatment of injuries from the domestic battery.
