Elmhurst D205 Enrollment Down Slightly

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205’s enrollment has fallen slightly from last year.

As of Aug. 28, the district said its enrollment was 8,286. That was 43 fewer students than where enrollment stood on Sept. 30, 2023, which is when the state records enrollment. Then, enrollment stood at 8,329, according to the district.

In an email to Patch, Tonya Daniels, the district’s spokeswoman, said enrollment at Madison Early Childhood Center is expected to grow throughout the year as students are enrolled when they reach the appropriate age.

The district’s enrollment is still above where it was in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years – at 8,164 and 8,240, respectively.

At an Aug. 20 school board meeting, member Kara Caforio noted the district was increasing staff because of needs and increased enrollment.

After the meeting, Patch emailed Daniels twice asking about enrollment. She did not reply.

She responded when Patch filed a public records request.

According to state data, District 205’s enrollment was 8,563 on Sept. 30, 2019, before the pandemic. Enrollment now is 3.2 percent lower.

The district typically presents enrollment numbers to the school board in October.
