March Madness-Style Contest To Decide NJ 'All-Stars'

NEW JERSEY — As college basketball fans across New Jersey make last-minute changes to their brackets ahead of Thursday’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament tip-off, the state has launched a March Madness-style competition of its own to determine the Garden State’s “all-stars.”

In a succinct social media post shared Tuesday, the state of New Jersey posted several brackets asking residents to “let us know your picks” for favorite beaches, beach bars, chains and produce in the Garden State.

Residents have several options from which to choose. Will it be Point Pleasant Beach in Ocean County or Seaside Heights, where residents can spend a weekend taking in the rides, restaurant and nightlife on the famed Boardwalk?

Several chains are vying for all-star status in dining, including Carlo’s Bakery, Surf Tacos, Windmill Hot Dogs and Jersey Mike’s.

Meanwhile, Bar A in Lake Como and Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant Beach are among eight contenders for the best beach bar.

Finally, tomatoes, cranberries, peaches, and bell peppers are just four types of produce vying to be the Garden State’s favorite.
