TEMECULA, CA — A DUI checkpoint is planned in Temecula, and motorists caught driving impaired and subsequently convicted will face about $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, authorities announced Monday.
The checkpoint is scheduled from 7 p.m. March 15 to 1 a.m. March 16 at an undisclosed location within city limits, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired-driving-related crashes, the law enforcement agency said.
During the operation, deputies will look for drivers under the influence of alcohol, narcotics and prescription drugs.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Deputy Grip said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the sheriff’s department.
