LOS ANGELES, CA — Drum roll, please! And the Grammy goes to — Taylor Swift won album of the year for “Midnights,” becoming the only performer to win the top prize four times in the awards show’s 66-year history. The world’s biggest pop icon previously won the most coveted Grammy prize for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.” Early in the evening, Swift also won best pop vocal album.
At the telecast event, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell won song of the year for “What Was I Made For,” while Victoria Monét won the best new artist. Miley Cyrus also scored big, taking home best record of the year and best pop solo performance for her smash hit “Flowers.”
On Sunday night, other big winners of the evening included SZA, who won best R&B song for “Snooze,” best progressive R&B album for “SOS” and best pop duo/group performance for “Ghost in the Machine,” the singer-songwriter’s collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers. Killer Mike nabbed trophies for best rap performance and best rap song for “Scientists & Engineers, as well as best rap album for “Michaels.” Lainey Wilson won best country album for “Bell Bottom Country,” while Chris Stapleton and Dan Wilson won best country song for “White Horse.”
The 66th Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah, got underway at the the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles with Dua Lipa’s electrifying medley of her latest singles, “Training Season” and “Houdini.”
Music’s Biggest Night kicked off with a livestreamed premiere ceremony, ahead of the main event to celebrate the winners of more than 80 categories across music genres ranging from classical and jazz to R&B and Global music. At the pre-telecast festivities, “Barbie,” Greta Gerwig’s take on the iconic doll’s story, nabbed two gramophone trophies for best song written for visual media for “What Was I Made For,” written by Billie Eilish and Finne O’Connell, as well as for best compilation soundtrack for visual media for “Barbie: The Album.”
