AEW announces new title & Continental Classic competitors

AEW has announced the creation of a new championship, plus more competitors and details regarding the Continental Classic.

It was revealed during Saturday's Full Gear pay-per-view that the winner of the Continental Classic will become the first-ever AEW Continental Champion. Additionally, Eddie Kingston is putting his ROH World Championship & NJPW Strong Openweight Championship on the line in each of his tournament matches, meaning the Continental Classic winner will hold three titles and be the first-ever AEW Triple Crown Champion. 

Kingston announced his intention to put his titles on the line in a promo segment at Full Gear, with AEW's Tony Khan confirming the new tournament details later in a social media post:

The Continental Classic starts this week, Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve on #AEWDynamite! 12 fighters, no interference, nobody at ringside The winner becomes AEW Continental Champion + ROH World Champion + NJPW Strong Openweight Champion, a new Triple Crown Champion at Worlds End!

Two more competitors were announced at Full Gear in Kingston & Mark Briscoe bringing the total to four of 12 participants announced. 

The Continental Classic kicks off on this Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. The tournament final will be held at Worlds End on pay-per-view on Saturday, December 30. Outside interference has been banned for the tournament and no one will be allowed to accompany the competitors to ringside.
