MILFORD, CT – The Month of June has been designated Milford United Way Month in Milford.
Milford United Way received a proclamation from Mayor Richard Smith on Wednesday, June 1.
“As we kick off Milford United Way Month, we are excited to see thousands of ducks being launched on Saturday,” Smith said before reading the proclamation.
The Annual Milford United Way Duck Race is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, starting at noon. The ducks will be launched around 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Bridge in Milford.
Milford United Way was established in 1957 and has always been deviated to servicing community members on all economic levels.
“Over the past 66 years, Milford United Way Has been an integral part of Milford’s social service program,” Smith said.
Milford United Way CEO Barry Berman said that throughout June, Milford United Way would focus on fundraising, social media campaigns, and other awareness campaigns to continue telling people they are in Milford.
“Our plan with the Milford United Way Month is to launch it with the Duck Race and continue fundraising throughout the Month,” Berman said.
Berman said they have plans to bring in new agencies and develop their programs to help the people of Milford.

“As many of you know, the three areas most important to Milford United Way are food insecurity, housing instability, and access to mental health,” he said. “The money we raise during June will support these issues, new organizations, and the Milford United Way itself as it develops new programs to meet those needs.”
