LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Megan Hensley of Louisville and Amber Fiser of Minnesota were named Louisville/Slugger NFCA Division I National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played April 23-29.
Hensley used her bat and her arm to key the Cardinals to a 3-1 week in ACC play. The junior hit .500 (6-for-12) with a double, three home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored. She slugged 1.333, scored in all four contests and drove in the game-winning run in two of the three wins over Boston College. She was 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA and seven punchouts in 16.1 innings against the Eagles.
Hensley was 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBI, while allowing a run on three hits in a 4-2 game-one win. The Ashland, Ky. native registered two RBI in each of the final two games and tossed a four-hit shutout in the finale (8-0 in 5 inn.). Against then-No. 8 Florida State, she was the lone Cardinal to muster a hit off of Kylee Hanson, taking her yard in the first inning of a 3-1 defeat.
Fiser was a perfect 4-0 in the circle as the Gophers enjoyed a 5-0 week in Big Ten play. The sophomore righty tossed her first collegiate perfect game on Friday against Purdue, needing just 45 pitches (6 K) to dispatch the Boilermakers. That performance was one game after Fiser took a perfect game into the sixth against Wisconsin before being relieved. She fanned six in that start as well.
The Van Horne Iowa native picked up her third straight Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor after her dominate week in the circle. Over four starts, Fiser recorded 24 strikeouts, walked one and scattered six hits over 20 innings of work.
